Tips
on How to Play Drums
Some say that anyone can learn how to play drums. Some say you have
to have a natural sense
of rhythm first and foremost. The question is, "Do you?"
Where do you start? - We say; at the beginning.

- Decide
what percussion instrument interests you the most. Is it the
conga drums? The bongo drums? The drumset? Once you've decided,
immerse yourself in study.
- Buy the
drum or drumset as soon as you can. There's no better source
of motivation than the desire to play your new drums. Purchase
what you can afford. Go with brand names if possible but make
sure the drums will hold up.
- Learn
how to tune your drums. When they sound good, it motivates
you to practice.
- Learn
the drum
rudiments. Standard rudiments are at the foundation of
drumming.
- Seek
instruction or drum lessons of some kind. There are lots of
free
drum lessons on the internet as well as free drum videos.
You can also purchase video dvds or even seek out a qualified
drum teacher. Drum

- Practice,
practice, practice! It won't come any other way.
- Remember
to stay motivated in your head. Stay positive and realize
that you can do it. Many before you have done it. It's only
a bit hard until you learn it. Then it's easy.
- Go out
and listen to other drummers play live. You'll not only get
tons of ideas but it is another source of motivation for you.
